Hey
everyone! How is it going?!
Well the
week has gone by so quickly that I could hardly keep up with it, lol. We are
now working with the members a lot more. Missionary work is taking full force
here with the members from each branch. The goal is to be a stake by 2020 so we
are all working hard for that. Finding the elder isn't easy, but it's definitely
worth it.
We are
trying to help a couple people as much as we can. Just when it seems they are
progressing, Satan just hits them hard and they go flying backwards. Snap, it's
hard but we are doing the best we can with receiving inspiration from the Lord
for his children.
Well this
week was also a knife to the heart. Why? Well two friends just got their
mission call, two got married and one came back from the mission. It kinda
feels like everyone and their lives are moving forward and mine is at a
standstill. But I am actually happy because I can keep mine on hold so that
others can have theirs for eternity. It's a pretty neat trade off.
I have
been practicing my ukulele skills, so I am progressing in that matter. Although
I am far from perfect, knowing some is better than none, right? A huge miracle
for me was that j was able to progress in my Spanish some more. I thought I
could put off learning subjunctive imperfect until after my mission. But that's
not true. So, I finally started to study it and I just felt myself back on the
path of learning and being better, so I am really excited about that. All those
who speak Spanish know what I am talking about. Those of you who don't, I won't
take the time because I don't even know what I would say to explain it. Just know
that its not my cup of tea (or apple juice)

Did you get any mail at
Zone Conference?
I did get
some mail. They were the best, the k you so much. I love the weight scale for
the luggage. Hahaha! My companion also found one in piso but I never knew what
it was for. But that's okay. Mine is smaller and more advanced.
Did you get the sheet
music I sent you?
I do get
the ukulele music. Some sheets don't have chords on them. I guess I'll just
have to figure out which ones they are, lol.
Did you get a picture
with Presidente Galli?
I didn't
see him see him in Sunday like I thought so I never got a photo with him.

How is it that you are
able to sing at so many Zone Conferences?
I am
usually asked to sing at Zone Conferences. We have some really great singers so
it's fun singing with them.
What is your favorite
thing to eat from Spain?
My
favorite thing to eat in Spain is probably some bandeja pisa. It's pork with
beans, salad and rice. Delicious!
What is the thing that
you miss the most?
The thing
that I miss the most is my family and my grandma's chocolate chip cookies. I
tried to make them here and they just don't come out the same. Lol.
What is the thing that
you are looking forward to the most this week?
The thing
that I am looking forward to this week is it being over! Lol. Actually, I am
looking forward to a Noche de Hogar that we will have with the senior
missionary couple that is serving here. They are so much fun!
A big
change happened here. Our district leader in Inca is getting called to the
office to to be in charge of the blog for the mission with another missionary.
So now another elder is the District leader and an elder from Palma will go
to Inca and a member who is serving a mini mission will go to be the companion
of the elder in Palma. So a lot of changes going on already. Next stop is me
going to the North of Spain! I actually don't know. It's not canonized
scripture.
Well for
this preparation day we just relaxed mostly. We went to a park by the ocean and
ate, sang some music and rested. Now I am in a burger king eating some food,
lol!

Well, time is sure
going faster. Both here in the states
and in Spain. As Elder Maybury has
stated in his past couple of emails, the days are going quicker for him as are
the weeks. He is on the downward slope
of his mission, with only 9 months left, and that tends to happen. One thing that I tell him often, and stress
much more as the time ticks down, is to “leave it all on the pitch”. This is a saying that comes from his rugby
coach (pitch = field). This means to
give everything you have, all of your blood, sweat and tears, to the game and
leave it on the pitch and have no regrets once the game is finished. This is my counsel to him often. To work so hard that if it were your last day
in the field, you would have no regrets because nothing would be left
undone. Your knees should be stronger
from praying often. Your feet should be
tired from walking where directed by the Lord.
Your voice should be gone from sharing the word of the Lord in every
moment you are able. Your heart should
rest with the people you are serving.
And your tears should be on the shoulders of all those you taught and
loved as you served in the vineyard of the Lord.
He gets it.
He works hard. The work is hard for sure. Especially on the island, but he loves his
area so much. He loves the people. He loves the work.
Knowing somewhat of
the work that my son is doing and knowing the physical and emotional toll that
it takes to work, serve and love so much, I can say that I am proud of my
son. I say that often, I know. But I see new reasons to be proud of him each
week. It is very possible that he will
be transferred in a couple of weeks and get off the island and go back to urban
areas of Spain. The fact that he doesn’t
want to be transferred is a good sign.
At least, it’s a sign that he loves the people he is serving. This is his 4th area and truth be
told, he was sad to leave the people in each area. I am happy for him because he means he has
made connections. He has met and taught
those that the Lord put in his path. I
can tell you from experience, those people will forever be in his heart. The people I served are still in my heart, 25
years later. I know their faces. I know their names. We will always be friends. This was something I wanted for my son and I
am so grateful that he is connecting through service and love.
Another thing that I
am VERY grateful for is for my son using and sharing his gift and love of
singing. He gets asked to sing often and
I am so grateful that he has built up his confidence to be able to do so. He sang twice this past week. Once at Zone Conference and once at the
priesthood session of stake conference.
Here is the video of one of those songs. I loved this song so much because he has a
solo and I can hear his voice so well that I BEAM when I listen to it…and then
I cry because I AM SO PROUD OF HIM!!!
It should be noted
that his companion is unfamiliar with the ZOOM on the camera, apparently, and
somehow cut off the song before the end, but I forgive him. *haha*
He thanks you for your love and prayer and
for cheering him on. Thank you for loving our son.
