Hello
everyone!
Well it
has been a fantastic week. And I hope you all know that. Always talk positive
and all will be better than before. So, let's talk about the week...
First of
all, we had the baptism of Paco and Ignacio!!!! Wow, what a great day! It was
fantastic to see them enter into the waters of baptism and watch them receive
the gift of the Holy Ghost. There was a lot of people who attended. It was the
best! Elder Salazar baptized and Paco and Balcaza baptized Ignacio. Then he confirmed
Paco a member and gave him the gift of the Holy Ghost and I confirmed Ignacio a
member and gave him the gift of the Holy Ghost. It was great to be just an
instrument in the hands of the Lord and be worthy to do it. I was able to do a
musical number with another elder and two sister missionaries. We did the Spanish
version of "If the Savior stood beside me". We got several
compliments. It was really amazing.
The only
thing that frustrated me was that I didn’t get a picture with Paco and Ignacio
before the baptism. Everyone handed me their cameras and phones, so I was
taking all the pictures, then the family joined in and I was thinking, "Oh, well I'm sure they will call me to take
a photo with me." Well, after the photos with the families, they all
went to go start the baptism service. So, I never got a photo with them. All
well, although I was REALLY frustrated, I prayed to be comforted and I was. It
also helped me to look and see that it's not about me at all. So, it was a good
but painful teaching moment.
This week
was full of meeting with members and other people so Elder Salazar could say
goodbye to them. We also had the funeral for Elder Salazar which I planned. Wow
talk about stress! It was an island funeral and it was great. We wrapped towels
round our waist and ties on our forehead. It was really fun and I'm glad it's
over. Hahaha!
We are working
with "David" and he is doing great right now. Trying to get him to
come to church with a white shirt and tie as well as Paco.
Wow, the
last couple of days I was so drained of energy from traveling and meeting with
people. It killed my energy. I just wanted to sleep, lol.
When I
dropped my companion off at the airport and checked his luggage in with him, we
took a picture, hugged and said good-bye. I do miss him. But I'm glad that he
his home now. Elder Wiener was my companion. We worked hard and by the Spirit
for the day and a half that we were together.
For
preparation Day, we didnt really do much. We went to LlaoLlao of course (Yogurt
place). But after that we were kind of just wandering around for a long time
and we decided to go to the church and actually do something. We were playing
card games such as UNO and we had a good time.
Answers to questions...
Will you forgive me for
not getting a package to you by transfers?
It is coming!
Of course,
momzee, I know I will get them. I can be patient and wait. It's one of the
things that I have grown the most in is patience. Hahaha!
How are you feeling about
Elder Salazar going home?
I am a
little sad, I do miss him and I am a little nervous about my next companion but
I am ready for it and I trust in the Lord.
What is “dignified language”
mean for missionaries?
Basically
it's language that can dignify us as examples of Jesus Christ or not. We don't
say cool, awesome or guy. We say neat, amazing, and brother. Things like that.
It's the same with Spanish words as well.
Did you ever get the
Jenga game I sent you for your “One Year Mark”?
I did get
the jenga game and everyone loves it. HAHAHA!!! I love it too! 😙
Have you used the
charcoal toothpaste I sent you?
I have
not used the charcoal toothpaste but instill give it a shot tonight.
How is your tooth doing?
The tooth
is doing good. Doesn't cause me pain anymore
I loved
the puzzle quote. I think it's very true. We often don't see or understand the
part that God has in our lives, but we must trust Him that as we continue to
"put the pieces together" the picture becomes clearer and clearer
until we shall finally see it and understand it. It will be beautiful and of
great desire to our souls.
So, I am
staying her in Marratxi and I am not training. I am getting a missionary from
Malaga. He has two transfers left. So, he will finish his mission here.
Well
that's about it for today! I love you all so much and I can't wait to talk to
you all next week! Keep the faith!

What a lovely email
this week. I prayed hard for my son this past week because with it being the last
week for his companion, it can get hectic and tiring. And it looks like it was, for sure.
A couple things…in
the mission, when a missionary is leaving the mission field to go home, they
have a “funeral” for him. It sounds
weird to say it, but the missionaries seem to enjoy it. You can see one picture with Elder Salazar
with ice cream all over him because that is part of the tradition as well…a send off with ice cream! Elder Salazar
is from Ecuador.
Additionally, Elder
Maybury mentioned “the puzzle quote”.
This is a quote that I found a couple weeks ago and LOVED IT the instant
I read it. I shared it with him and was
grateful to get his insights on it. Here
is the quote:
If you
can trust a puzzle company to make sure every piece is in the box to complete
the puzzle, then why can’t you trust GOD that every piece of your life is there
for a reason.
Here is a link to the
video of the song he sang at the baptism.
I just LOVE being able to hear his voice.
Finally, I absolutely
love my son’s attitude. He has the right
attitude about things. He sent us a
couple of videos that he takes on his p-days and so it is nice to see him and
hear him talk to us about things that are happening in the moment. He is still the same kid that we love, but he
is maturing, and it shows. Over and
above everything else, he knows whom he serves, and he works daily in that
calling to serve the Lord in whatever capacity he is asked. And I love his example for me and for all of
us.
