Hey
everyone, how has the week gone by for you all?! Mine has been pretty
fun!
We had
District Meeting this past Tuesday and we were normally gonna go eat out as a
district, but my companion and I had to dip for an eating visit that we had
scheduled. It was about 40 minutes walking, so we put in a good pace, lol. We
had some great chicken cooked from an oven and then gave a blessing to the son
who has fully recuperate by now and is back to his normal ray of sunshine self.
We passed by Brandon and his family as well which was really fun. It's always
good to pass by members because you get a small moment to better your
relationship with them. We also planned for our Culture Night activity that we
had which I will explain in a moment.
On
Wednesday we taught John Kennedy. He is progressing a whole lot faster than
before and we plan on inviting him to be baptized next week. He is coming to
church more often, and it's because his brother Jhor is waking him up to go to
church with him so that's a plus. We taught English class to a member and her
friend. And Jhor was there so we enjoyed ourselves learning and teaching!
On
Thursday we had our weekly planning but then had to finish it early for a
member visit. We ate some pasta soup and then a stinking HUGE plate of Pické
Machu. My goodness it was so big. I could not finish it, not to mention that my
stomach wasn't all to good either. I do not know what my stomach hurts me from
time to time. I can't wait to eat some American food with American
"quality", haha.
On Friday
we met with John Kennedy again. We taught him the rest of the Restoration. We
also talked about Yu-Gi-Oh because he plays, and I loved it as a kid. We then
had the Culture Night. It was so great, we had members of the ward come and
represent their country by bringing food. The Americans (us) completely killed
it. I will send picture later.
On
Saturday we had sports and this hurt elder was somewhat forced to play but I
also wanted to as well. Let me just say that I can be a great goalie a well.
And a scorer. When I left the goalie box to come play up, the other team said,
"Watch out for this Elder. Somebody guard him." Lol, it made me laugh
and feel good. We then had a Movie Night at the church! It was so good and it
made me so trunky. I now just want to be in a theater now eating some popcorn
and drinking some soda. Hahahaha!!!🤣
On
Sunday, church was fantastic as usual. We taught the deacons on DyC 1 and
Chapter 1 of Preach My Gospel. It was fun. We then visited a member and John
Kennedy came with us! And he really liked it as well! We then had about 15
minutes until we had to go to our next visit with a returning member. We
brought a member with us a us well. The visit went well but he needs some help
with his testimony and his understanding of things. But all well. We will keep
visiting him as often as we can. We ended up not having our meeting with one of
the leaders so we planned some more and did calls. We then went to a Family
Home Evening and ate some pizza. We went over Come Follow Me. We also played Banana
Grahams which was fun, but I messed up on some of the rounds because some
letters in the Spanish alphabet sound like another one. So, I messed up on
several rounds, Lol!
Now it's
Monday and we are gonna do an escape room so ill let you know how it goes next
week, alright? 👍
The
miracle of this week was that we received a lot of references! We will be
working with a lot of them so we are excited! Yay!
Well
that's about it folks. I love you all and keep the faith!

Hello
everyone!!! How are you all doing today?!
Let's
start the week off well.
This past
Monday we did an escape room! It was super fun! We did finish and escaped the
room. It was a western theme. Super neat. We had about 1:27 left I believe so
almost down to the wire. But it's alot better than the last time we did it when
I was in Logroño and we finished with 4 seconds left, hahaha! I'm 2 for 2 right
now. We had two youth with us, Sarai and Sofia with the two hermanas and my
companion and myself. So we had a good group going. We then met with Rene and
his family and had a neat FHE.
On
Tuesday we did an intercambio with the Andorra elders. I was with Elder Miller
who is actually in the Talus Ridge in Utah which is in my stake so that was
pretty weird/interesting. Lol. We met with Gladys who is a returning member. We
got her to commit to come to church so that was really great. Elder Miller and
I felt the spirit because we both had the impression to talk about Helaman 5:12
which talks about Christ being our sure foundation and being set upon him. He
then taught me how to do online proselyting with Facebook when we were at the
church. After that we visited Brandon and his family which was fun. The family
is doing well. They are strong and growing in the gospel and our one of my
favorite families.
On
Wednesday we met with John Kennedy and his mom Roxmary. We taught the mom about
the Restoration and she liked it alot. John had to leave for work hence us just
teaching the mom. We had English class as well and that was pretty fun. We made
brownies and brought them for the class. After that we talked with Jhor for a
bit. We did some calls and work on our records. Then we called it good and went
home.
On
Thursday we had weekly planning and that was beneficial. At night we took a
train to go to Zaragoza for an intercambio with the Zone Leaders.
On Friday
we had our intercambio. I went with Elder Cobbly who is from the same group as
me (entered the CCM in June 2017). So, we took that day to catch up about our
missions. It was a fun day with visits and jokes by all. Then at night we
returned to Lleida.
On
Saturday we met with some other members and it was all pretty fun. To be honest
I cant remember what happened. Oh, we did pass by Roxmary again so that was a
good quick visit. Then we dropped of a balloon with a picture and notes to a
youth who just turned 17. I find that it's the small and simple acts that no
one really expects that make it a good day.
On Sunday
we sang the intermediate song with the youth. We sang the "We'll bring the
world his truth". It was fun. We then had 3 EATING VISITS. Man, I was sick
at the end of the day. In one visit, I found out that she is half Mexican and I
felt like I was with my heritage! She let me wear one of her Mariachi hats (a
sombrero), which was amazing.
Well I am
still stuffed from yesterday. I don't think I'll eat for 2 days. Lol.
Answers to
questions...
In terms of a package,
would you rather I send you chocolate or contact lens solution? LOL!
Chocolate!
I can buy contact solutions here.
Regarding this new
announcement where you can call home, what do you think? When do you think you might want to call?
I'll call
once or twice apart from the mothers day. I'll call on your birthday mom and on
a couple of other occasions as well. We will see how it goes.
Any upcoming musical numbers?
We will
be singing "A poor Wayfaring man of grief" next Sunday. I am singing
bass so wish me luck!
What do you think is the hardest
thing about being a trainer?
Being a
good example. I have to Watch my every move! Lol. But it makes me see my flaws
sometimes.
What is the best thing
about being a trainer?
Having a
front row seat to miracles.
What personal
characteristic are you working on this week?
I am
working on my patience. Lol.
The
miracle was that we set a baptism date with a woman called Florencia. Her date
is for the 9th of March. Prayers please! We are working hard here, and Lleida
is great. Elder West is a beast! (As always) I love being a District Leader. I
love being able to share my experiences with everyone else and being able to
help them. I love wit so much, and above it all I love being able to serve
them. That’s the best part!
Well that’s
about it this week. I love you all and keep the Faith! Have a good week!
Con Amor, Elder Maybury
We had a Culture Night and here are some pics
February 25, 2019
Hey
everyone, it's been a fun week here in Lleida, I can't wait to tell you all
about it!
This past
Tuesday we didn't have district council because we had Zone Conference this
past Friday. But more on that later. We kept going through the phone because we
have a lot of contacts that there and maybe some potential. We were able to
meet with two people that we called so that was really Great! We visited Jhor
and his family. That was always great. Oh, I forgot that in the morning we visited
Jhon Kennedy and taught him about the plan of Salvation. He had good questions
and that message helped him understand some things.
On
Wednesday, we met with his mom Roxmary. We taught her more about the
Restoration and we just basically checked up on her because she is going
through a rough moment. So, prayers for her and her family. We taught English
which was really fun. There were a couple of new people there, so we just went
over the basics. Then we had our Ward Night activity which was bingo. It was so
much fun. A lot of people showed up, the snacks were good and although I didn't
win, there was A good spirit there.
On
Thursday we met with Maria who is a new person we got in contact with from the
phone. She is from the Dominican Republic and is really nice. She came to
church with us on Sunday so that was great. We also taught John Kennedy so that
was fun again. We just answered some questions he had. We then didn't really
have any time to do weekly planning, so we did it in parts. We had to help the Andorra
elders find a parking space by the train station because they came late. We all
had to catch a train to go to Barcelona for Zone Conference for the next day.
Anyway, they barely caught the train though! We already had gone through the
terminal because we didn't want to miss it ourselves! But all went well. I saw
Hermana Richardson there which was great because she had to go home for some sickness,
but she is better now. For those of you who don't remember, I served with her
in Sabadell. Anyway, we got to Barcelona safely and in the Barcelona Elders
piso, I saw my very first companion from the CCM, Elder Cheever there! He was
there for residency so that was fun seeing him.
(Residency is when you have
to go turn in your expired residency papers so you can stay legally in the
country)
On Friday
we had Zone Conference and that was really great. It was really revelatory for
me and I want to change some things to be better. We had our interviews with
President Galli and it went really well. I loved it. He said that I look good
for being a trainer and being a District Leader which most missionaries find
hard at times. We came back to Lleida Friday night and the Andorra Elders stayed
with us until Saturday morning to go back to Andorra.
On
Saturday we had sports, but I didn't play because I didn't want to hurt my
ankle. After sports we had a barbecue for the JAS (Young Single Adults)
activity. So that was fun. We also had a visit with a dropped friend of the
elders, her name is Ana Maria. The visit went well. We talked for a bit with
the intent of teaching The Gospel of Jesus Christ, but after taking for a bit,
we changed it to the Plan of Salvation so we could resolve some of her doubts.
On
Sunday, we sang a special musical number. A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief (Un
Pobre Forastero). I sang the stinking bass part. I'M NOT A BASS PEOPLE! But I
worked it out, and it all went well. We visited Laia, and ate with her and her
daughter, that was pretty fun. We had an FHE with Josh and Jacob at their
house, and it was fun. We decided that we are going to form a quartet. And
guess who is singing bass? ME! My goodness, I don't know why it happens to me.
I wish I had my dad's bass singing skills. Hahaha!
It's been
a fun week full of miracles. Even though I got a little sick, I got better
pretty fast.
Answers to questions...
Did you get any packages
at Zone Conference?
I did not
get it, but I am going to Barcelona this Friday for residency so I should be
good.
What are your thoughts
about transfers for next week?
I think me
and my companion are staying here, Hermana Donahey is dipping and so is Elder
Lyman. (dipping = dipping past 4 months, which is a long time in one area)
This transfer next week
will see Elder Gomez, Elder Newman, and Elder Chin Ah You all go home. How does that make you feel?
I feel
old.
What is your favorite
hymn? Current and/or of all time?
A Poor
Wayfaring Man of Grief. Of all time, man, I think Nearer My God to Me, and Now
Let us Rejoice.
Are the other
missionaries and their families enjoying the new ability to call weekly?
Yes, his
parents like it better so they don't have to write emails, lol. Or just one of
them.
Do you need to send some
things home soon? Are you suitcases too
full?
I don't
think so, I am going to be letting go of like half of my things, I think.
What Christ-like
characteristic will you be focusing on this week?
The same
one as always…patience. Oh, and
obedience. Everyone can always work on it.
Elder
West is doing really good. He is a strait beast though. Lol. The district is
good. I love it here.
The
miracle of the week is that we are seeing progress with using Facebook as a way
of finding people. We have several visits set with people for this week.
Yay!
Well
that's about it my friends and family. Am I trunky, no? But I do love my
family! Keep the faith and stay true to God!
Love Elder Maybury

Also, please feel free to write to him. Believe it or not, he doesn't hear from many people and while he always understands that life goes on and people are busy, I know that he WOULD APPRECIATE IT. So, if you feel like writing him an email, please do so.
